Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2017 Subaru Outback
Question:
Ive seen your YouTube video on installing a trailer hitch on the Subaru Outback with the 2.5l engine. The 2017 3.6 has dual exhausts. Is the procedure the same? Is the part number the same?

For your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III - 2" # 75673, which is not the same hitch. This is a very well made hitch with a sturdy square tube design and black powder coat to resist rust. It is a bolt on application, and I've attached an installation video for you on a 2017 model which will show you the procedure for installing this particular hitch receiver. This hitch is compatible with all accessories that have a 2 inch receiver application.
If you will be towing with this hitch, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # 118467. This harness will simply plug into your wiring that can be found behind the side panel or carpet behind the rear seat on the driver's side of your vehicle. I've included a video of this installation as well.
For a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500 lbs, # 989900. This will give you two draw bars and two hitch balls with different rise and drop to help you tow level. The kit comes with everything you need and even a storage bag. I've also attached an article on choosing the correct ball mount to help.
