Wiring A Dome Light In A Camper And Wiring A Third Brake Light On 2005 GMC Sierra
Question:
How to hook up a dome light for a GMC Sierra 2005 Truck Camper? I want a switch on this. Thank You. Also I am hooking up a 3rd tail ,light. I have located my light blue wire , but Where do I hook up the red and black wires from the stop light? Thank You

The best way to run the wiring for your dome light is to connect the power wire for the switch to the positive battery post. This way the dome light can be used in your camper whether the ignition key is turned on or not.
For the third brake light you will need to locate a wire that only shows power when the brakes are applied. There is usually a harness located under the truck bed by the spare tire. You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to find the right wire you need for the third brake light. The red wire should be the wire you attach to the wire you find for the brake light and the black wire is for running lights so you would not need to connect it.
