Does Installation Of Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch For 2016 Ford Edge Require Trimming Rear Fascia

Question:

Hello, I have a question about Draw-Tite hitch 75234, for a 2016 Ford Edge sport model. I was told by a local shop that it does require cutting of the underside rear plastic to install, but your site shows absolutely no cutting just removal for this hitch installation - can you confirm no cutting of plastics is required? The pics of installs on 2016 sports in your QandA / comments look like it doesnt.. Just wanted to confirm. Thanks in advance!

Per the installation instructions for the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for your 2016 Ford Edge, the rear fascia is not trimmed.

In the instructions it does say the fascia is lowered for the hitch installation but no mention is made about trimming. The laast step of the attached instructions say to reinstall the fascia along with the hardware. The # 75234 is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening.

If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

If you plan to tow and need a trailer connector I recommend part # 118669.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
