Tire Chains Compatible With 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4x4 With 265/70R18 Tires

Question:

I am looking for snow chains for my Chevy 2500 HD 4x4. Tire size is 265 70 18. I ed that information on your web page. I just want to make that the snow chains results that are listed on etrailet are cleared to go on my vehicle. The owners manual specify that with my tire size certain chains can cause damage. It states to vetify with each manufacture. Also, does it have anything to do with the S clearance? Thanks

Your owner's manual specifies that you should not use tire chains on your size tires. Then they pass the liability on to manufacturers of the tire chains. The manufacturers all say they fit a specific tire size and to check your owners manual so they aren't liable. It leaves you needing to make the decision. Often the vehicle manufacturer will specify the need for class S which is a reduced interior clearance, but your owner's manual doesn't even give this option.

The best chains for your tire size are the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners - Square Link - Reversible - 1 Pair, # PWE2228SC.

The smallest chains allowing the greatest clearance are the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - Steel Rollers - 1 Pair, # TC2028. These cable chains are class S compatible and require only 15 mm of clearance between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

I may have made the mistake of purchasing some Titan Chains, with V bar cleats, item Item # TC2828CAM prior to reading the manual or without reading some of these comments in detail. Do you believe these chains will work without damaging the wheel wells if carefully installed with appropriate tighteners. Can you comment on installing these chains on the front wheels also. I would probably purchased the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - Steel Rollers item Code: TC2028, but if the chains I purchased work I'll be fine.

You're going to have to check your owner's manual about what kind of chains to use. Do you have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the 265/70R18 like Rob does in the answer page above?

@JonG Yes. I should have put that in the original comment. I have a exactly the same truck. Thanks for getting back to me.

@WaltH Thanks for the confirmation! So just a few things to note. Since your owner's manual says not to install chains on 265/70R18 tires because of clearance (and to only add traction devices on the rear tires) I don't really have a way to argue with that. GM gets to voice their opinion about tire chains and fitment so if you were to use these and damage occurred because of them, then any damage wouldn't be covered under warranty. Your best bet would probably be something like part # TC2327 or # TC2028, but I don't really have the authority to say that it's safe to use these in this manner.
