Electric winches should have a direct connection to a battery for power. The wiring in a trailer connector, like a 7-Way, and an adapter like # HM47675, is not a heavy enough gauge to effectively power a winch. Also, the farther away from the power source the winch is, the heavier the wiring will need to be.
I recommend using a wiring kit specifically for electric winches like Trailer and Vehicle Electric Winch Wiring Kit # BDW20207. I have included a link to all of the available wiring options for electric winches below.
