Recommended Trailer Jack For Enclosed Cargo Trailer

Question:

I am interested in swivel trailer jacks. I have a 5 by 8 foot enclosed cargo trailer loaded to about 1200 lbs. The tongue is an A-frame, and has a jack, but it is my hope to be able to manuever the trailer more easily into position with this device mounted on the side of the tongue to be swung out of the way when not in use. Are these safe to use temporarily to move the CT a few feet and even though they would not be in a centered position in relation to the wheels? Do you have one that can move a CT on dirt fairly easily?

If you have a square frame trailer I recommend a jack like part # DL22580. This is a swivel jack and it has dual tires that make it easier to move. This jack can be used on trailers with a frame up to 3 x 5-inches.

Instead of adding a jack to your trailer you may want to consider just using a trailer dolly.

We have several tow dollies to choose from based on what you need. If you need a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball for your trailer you can use the Rack'em Trailer Dolly, part # RA20. This dolly adjusts from 16 to 19 inches and has dual 13-inch tires that makes moving the trailer easier.

If your trailer has a 2-inch coupler you can use the Trailer Valet, part # TVXL2. This dolly is chain driven so all you have to do is turn the crank and guide it with the steering handle. This dolly has dual wheels as well.
