on the 8 inch wheel 5 on 4 1/2 . is the center hole 2 7/8 inch in dia. ?

The pilot diameter for the wheel part # AM30060 that you referenced is 2.80 inches or 2-51/64 of an inch if you are being super accurate. This is pretty close to 2-7/8 inches which in decimal form is 2.875 inches.
