Recommended Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch to Fit 1993 Ford F-250 with 8 Foot Flareside Bed

Question:

I have a 1993 Ford F-350 that I would like to buy a 5th wheel hitch for. It has the 8 foot bed with overload Springs installed and is a dual rear wheel. The Pro Series hitch listed says it isnt compatible with flare or step side beds. Will this hitch work or do you have another one that would? I will also need the rails and mounting hardware. Thank you

Expert Reply:

The stepside or Flareside trucks, like your 1993 Ford F-350, cause issues with fifth wheel trailers because the bed is more narrow so there is less clearance between the truck and trailer. Most hitch manufacturers do not recommend using their hitches with a stepside for this reason. So the Pro Series, PS30093, is not recommended.

However, the B&W Companion # BWRVK3500-5W will work with your truck. It's rated for 20,000 pounds and is a highly rated hitch. To install the Companion you also need the Custom Underbed Kit # BWGNRK1110-5W which is also a turnoverball gooseneck hitch.

I've attached a review video for you to take a look at.
