Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 1997 Ford Explorer without Trailer Wiring
Question:
Hi! So long story short, im trying to get a 4 pin flat connection on my 97 explorer. I looked through your site, and im 99 sure the one i need is part # 118316. However, my vehicle isnt listed as it being compatible. Part #118241 would work, BUT I then wouldnt have power going to my license plate lights. The 97 Explorers were a bit tricky with options, so I took a picture of the connection im trying to connect to. Typically these pieces are connected. There are a bunch of wires coming from the car connected to part 1, coming out of part 2 are only 2 wires, a ground and a positive carrying power to only the license plate lights. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Happy New Year! Cheers,

I have a solution for you but I cannot recommend you disable your license plate light so that you would potentially be able to install trailer wiring. Since your 1997 Ford Explorer doesn't have trailer wiring what you will need is the Curt Kit part # C55345 which will install in line with your vehicle taillights and is a confirmed fit.
