Recommended Weight Distribution System For Trailer And 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350
Question:
2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 4Matic without tow package. I will be towing a 7x12 tandem trailer with 2 5/16inch coupler and 7-pin connector 7000 GVW. Im looking at the Drawtite76024, Tekonsha11925KIT, Tekonsha Prodigy P3 90195, ETBC7, and a 7-pin adapter. THe SUV is 4600 lbs and the trailer loaded will be 3400-4000 lbs so Im thinking I will need a weight distribution system and am looking for recommendation. Thanks,

For your 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, I agree with your thoughts.
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III - 2", # 76141, is a great hitch for your application that requires no drilling. There are some installation tips to be aware of however, the exhaust will need to be temporarily lowered and the heat shield must be modified or trimmed. Removal of bumper fascia brackets is required and the fascia will be secured to hitch body.
The ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit, # 119250KIT, will allow you to have the functionality without splicing any wires and will protect your factory system. The Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, # ETBC7 will give you the reverse, 12V power, and brake controller functions. The kit includes the wire and all the connectors and circuit breakers necessary. The reverse function will need to be spliced in to operate.
The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195, is the best proportional brake controller on the market with its easy to read LCD display and adjustments to meet your needs including 3 boost settings.
I agreee that a weight distribution system will benefit you. The total tongue weight is the key to a weight distribution system. That is the trailer tongue weight, normally 10-15% of the total weight of your trailer, as well as any cargo behind the rear axle in your towing vehicle.
The best system for your needs is the Strait-Line Weight Distribution with Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 10,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW, # RP66073. This will put your total tongue weight right in the sweet spot of this system. This system has dual cams and spring bars that actually work constantly to stop sway before it begins. It is automatically self-adjusting and self-centering to give you great control of your trailer in straight lines and when cornering. There is fine tuning ability with the head assembly and the spring-bar tension so you can adjust to your preferences and needs. This application does require the hitch ball and I recommend the Tow Ready Hitch Ball with 2-5/16" Diameter and Medium Shank, 12,000 lbs GTW - Chrome, # 19286 to meet your trailer coupler needs. I've attached a review video of a slightly bigger system so you can see how it works.
