Reese Elite 5th Wheel Hitch Compatibility With 2017 Dodge Ram 3500
Question:
I currently have a Reese Elite 5th Wheel hitch with under bed rails on my 2011 Dodge Ram 3500. I am interested in purchasing a new 2017 Dodge Ram 3500 with the factory tow package which includes the bed pucks. Will my current hitch which I really like fit the new bed pucks with or without a Reese adapter? Thanks

I reached out to my tech contact at Cequent who makes Reese, and they don't have an adapter from your Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Wiring Harness - Single Jaw - 18,000 lbs, # RP30142, to make it work with the new Ram puck system that is wider.
You will need to purchase a new hitch that will have that wider footprint. I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16521 along with the Curt Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider - Ram Towing Prep Package # C16022.
If you get the 8 foot bed, I recommend the Reese OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs, # RP30918, which is the similar hitch to your current fixed mount application.
