Recommended Front Hitch For A 2004 GMC Yukon Denali XL And Hitch Mounted 4 Bike Carrier
Question:
I am looking at a Thule Hitching Post Pro 4 bike hitch mounted bike rack. I am buying a front hitch for my 2004 GMC Yukon Denali XL. Will this work? Should I look for another model?

For your 2004 GMC Yukon Denali XL, I recommend the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver 2", # 31302 for a 1500 series. This is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and installation will not require any drilling, but will require trimming of the front air dam and/or fascia. For a 2500 series, I recommend the # 31108 which will also include trimming the air dam and/or fascia. This hitch will use the OEM Tow hook fastener bolts to install the hitch and due to variations in the tow hook fasteners may require 1/2 inch holes to be enlarged to 9/16 inch holes in the hitch.
For your bike rack, the Thule Hitching Post Pro - Folding Tilting 4 Bike Rack w Anti-Sway - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # TH934XTR, is a good choice. The cradles will hold the bikes in place well with their 3 point HoldFast Cradles. The anti-rattle bolt will minimize the rack movement and keep it from excessive bounce. I do recommend using the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device, # THSTL2 to securely lock your rack to your hitch and the Thule Cable Lock w/ One Key System Lock - 6' Long # TH538XT to secure your bikes to the rack. If you will be carrying any bikes that lock a straight top rail, I recommend the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes, # 64005, that will allow level carrying and greater ground clearance. This is a great rack for 4 bikes with a 35 lbs per bike capacity and will fit on any 2 inch hitch receiver. If you use this on the front hitch, make sure you have clearance for lights.
