Height of Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 41944 Compared to Factory Hitch on a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500
Question:
Hi, looking to replace the hitch on my 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD Longbed. The Drawtite 41944 is my #1 pick so far and Ive watched the great install videos you provide. Listening to the video they mention the opening height from the ground which is nice but a measurement from the factory bumper step could be more useful and universal since vehicle heights can vary considerably. Do you have any measurements for how different the hitch opening position is compared to the factory hitch? Thanks and keep up the good work!

There is maybe a 1/2 inch of space between the top of the receiver tube and the bottom of the bumper with hitch # 41944 installed on a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500. It is going to be positioned just about identically to the factory hitch which is to say just about up against the bottom of the bumper.
For this hitch I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK2416 which comes with a ball mount, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. The ball mount has a 3 in rise or 4 inch drop. If the rise/drop does not allow you to tow a trailer level then there are other ball mounts you could use. I have included a link to a help article that explains how to measure for rise/drop.
