Recommendation To Carry 2 Snowboards and 4 Pair Skis On Roof Rack

Question:

We need to transport our skis/snowboards we are a family of 6 driving an SUV. We already have crossbars 64.5 inches long and square shaped. We want to transport 4 pairs of skis and 2 snowboards. We want to have the flexibility to put in the future 6 snowboards as the kids are growing up and slowing all switching to snowboards. Could we put the Yakima Big PowderHound right next to the Yakima PowderHound? Are there other options? It seems like we will need to get two ski racks and put them side-by-side, right? We would much appreciate your recommandations.

My recommendation for you is the Yakima Big PowderHound Roof-Mounted, Locking Ski and Snowboard Carrier - 4 Skis/2 Boards, side by side as you mentioned. With your 64.5 inch crossbars, you will have enough room to mount two of them with a little room to spare. They each measure 30" long x 2-3/4" wide x 6-3/8" tall. The large, push button system makes loading and unloading your gear quick and easy even with gloves or mittens on. The change to 6 snowboards will be limited due to the size of your roof rack.

I suggest using the Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores (QTY 4), # Y07204, to make the carriers all keyed alike.
