Recommendation on a Rear Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner That Will Fit A 2017 Ram 1500 Truck

The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera will fit on the your 2017 Ram 1500 truck. The camera uses a T-connection that ties into the your trucks 7-way trailer connection at the rear of the vehicle. The connection will power both the camera and 3.5 inch color monitor.

The SmartZone sensors provide an audible beep to alert you of the distance and direction of objects behind your vehicle when in reverse.

If by chance you do not have the 7-way connector, the instructions also explains how to install the camera and monitor on your vehicle by hard wiring the system.

The included cable in the Hopkins Smart Hitch measures 19ft - 7 inches. If this is too short for your vehicle, Hopkins offers two extensions. These part numbers are # HM3100504060, a 5ft extension and # HM3100504061, a 25 ft extension.

The Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System - Built-in Backup Sensors, # RVS-5350-W, would be the next step up from the Hopkins Smart Hitch. The Rear View Safety camera is a wireless system that uses wireless receivers and wires in to the reverse circuit of the vehicle to operate. This camera has a night vision option that the Hopkins camera does not, but the Rear View Safety camera has a higher price point.
