Using a Curt A20 Slider for a 1997 Ford F-350 8 Foot Bed with Cab Wing Mounted on Bed
Question:
I have a 1997 Ford F350 Conversion Crew Cab Dually. My truck has a wing on it just behind the cab mounted to the top of the bed. This wing goes to the top of the roof and then back down on the other side.I have the universal rail kit mounted in the 8ft. bed. I would like to get a slider fifth wheel hitch to get the clearance for the wing. It could be a manual slide. Would the Curt A20 be a good choice?

The Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider item # C16541, would be a great choice for your truck, as long as you have room to maneuver when you are on the road and the hitch is in the forward towing position. It is not recommended to tow with the hitch in the rear position except for when you are in slow speed tight maneuvering situations, because the pin weight will be positioned behind the rear axle of the truck.
So if the wing mounted over the front of the bed of you truck allows you to make most normal right hand turns when on the road, and the 12 inches of rearward travel will allow you to maneuver the fifth-wheel in tight situations without damaging the wing on your truck then this would be the way to go.
The # C16541 is a manual sliding hitch.
