Recommended Tire Chains to Fit 285/70-17 Sized Tires on 2010 Ford F-250

Question:

I have a F250 with the Powerstroke diesel. Tire size of 285/70-17. I am looking for tire chains. Is there any concern about the extra weight of the truck for chain ion?

According to an online copy of your 2010 Ford F-250 you should avoid fully loading the truck when using tire chains if possible. That's quite vague but I would take it into consideration. Tire chains are designed to fit certain tires and provide increased traction. They aren't designed to fit one vehicle or another based on weight.

There is also the factor of clearance to take into consideration. The manual states to only use Class S compatible chains. This means there is less clearance needed for the chains to fit and not make contact with your truck. You especially may run into an issue here because your tires are larger than the standard factory tire sizes for your truck.

A good, reliable Class S tire chain to fit your tires is the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2327. They are manual installation however they have tensioners to assist with the adjustment. This will help you get them installed as tight as necessary to improve the clearance. I've attached an installation video you can look at, as well as some help articles with general information on tire chains.
