For your application, I recommend using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, # ETBC7. Since the pop up trailer has a 6 or 7 way connection, it will have trailer brakes and we will need to upgrade your vehicle wiring to make it compatible. The # ETBC7 will convert your current 4-Way into a 7-Way connector that will require us adding some wires for 12V power, electric Brakes, and reverse light functions along with simply plugging in your current 4-Way. The kit comes with all the wire, connectors, circuit breakers, and mounting hardware. I've attached a few videos to help with the installation.
If you choose to add a 6-Way instead, you will want to use the Brake Controller 6 and 4 Way Installation Kit, 10 Gauge, # ETBC6.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195. This brake controller is proportional, so it will apply pressure to the brakes on the trailer with the same amount of force as you press the brakes in your car. It has an easy to read LCD screen that constantly is using diagnostics to give you up to date information. The information is clear and easy to understand so it takes the guess work out of lights and codes. It is adjustable to meet your specific needs and it has 3 boost settings.
These parts will get you ready to tow your pop-up trailer with trailer brakes.
