Available Types of RV Trailer Hitch Receiver
Question:
Can you cross a Putnam 02253 hitch? It is on my RV and was damaged so I need a replacement however I am sure it wont be possible by application.

We do offer several options in multi-fit RV hitches that you can see on the linked page but please note we do not carry Putnam brand products. These include both bumper-mounted hitches like # E-100 that fit 4 x 4-inch fully-welded RV bumpers and frame-mount hitches like # 13703 that bolt right up to the RV frame. These are available in sizes to fit a range of trailer frame widths. The Curt # 13703 fits frame widths from 22- to 72-inches wide (as measured from outside to outside).
You will want to remove the damaged Putnam hitch to ensure that there is no damage to the RV's frame before you install a new one. Inspect the frame for any signs of bent or cracked material at the original hitch's installation point. If you see anything that looks the least bit questionable I suggest you bring the RV to a qualified shop to have them inspect the frame. If there is any damage to the RV frame your new hitch may not be able to deliver its full rated capacity.
If your application is use of a hitch mount accessory item such as a bike carrier, be sure that you select a bike rack that is designed and approved for use on the rear of an RV. Standard hitch bike racks made for cars are not usable on RVs due to the extra stresses found at the rear of such vehicles. Standard hitch racks cannot withstand the higher vertical and lateral stresses that result from the greater distance from the rear axle to the hitch.
Once you have your hitch installed, you could use the Yakima LongHaul 4-bike RV rack # TH9057. This is a great carrier that comes with locks for both the rack and the bikes.
