Weight Distribution Recommendation for a Care Hauler Trailer with Various Weights

Question:

I have a 2015 Gmc Sierra 1500 double cab 5.3 4wd. Im going to be purchasing a PJ 20foot B5 buggy hauler car trailer with 5200lb axles and a 9899 gvw. Estimated weight was 2500lbs with the 3500lb axles, so I assume the larger axles will increase the weight a little. I plan to mainly transport small vehicles such as my Gmc Sonoma but also will occasionally haul something heavier like a fullsize truck or whatever project i end up picking up. What system would be best?

Since the amount of weight on the trailer will vary I recommend a weight distribution system that has a pretty wide range.

For a system rated for 500 to 1000 pounds tongue weight I recommend the Reese system # RP66559. Or, if the trailer tongue weight is routinely above 1000 pounds I recommend system # RP66560 rated for 600 to 1,200 pounds tongue weight.

The included shank has a max rise of 8-3/4 inches and max drop of 4 inches. Other shanks are available separately if more rise or drop is needed.

The only other part needed will be a properly sized ball, # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch diameter. I have included some links on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
