How to Select Best Fairing for Factory Roof Rack on 2012 BMW X5

Question:

Hi - I have a 2012 BMW X5 with OEM BMW cross-bars and a Thule ski rack. I am looking for a wind fairing to reduce wind noise. It seems like the Rhino, Inno, and Yakima fairings will all fit on these bars? Is this correct? Will one of these products work better for my vehicle? Thanks.

Expert Reply:

The best way to select a roof rack fairing for reduced wind noise on your 2012 BMW X5 is to measure the dimensions of the crossbars. Knowing their length, width and thickness will ensure you choose a fairing that will fit on those bars.

For instance, the Rhino Rack # RRRF2 fairing is 38-inches and fits on bars having dimensions up to 3-1/2-inches wide and 1-1/4-inches thick. It also requires at least 30-1/2-inches of bar space between the rack legs. The Inno Fairing # INA261 is slightly longer at 40-inches and it will fit most bar types and work on almost any factory crossbar. All fairings are shown on the linked page.

If you cannot identify the best option from the descriptions and fit information provided just let me know your bar's available length, and their width and thickness.
