Recommendation On A Ball Mount That Can Fix Unlevel Towing
Question:
I recently installed a CURT hitch and wiring kit on my 2015 Toyota RAV4. When pulling my small boat recently first time hauling, I noticed the trailer was riding quite low with a small rise in the receiver. Im interested in buying another one with a higher rise. Maybe 6 or 8. Any advice you can provide to the best fit? I was looking at CURT Ball Mount #C45100.

Determining the proper rise and drop needed for a ball mount can be done with two measurements and a little math. On a level surface, first measure from the top edge of your receiver opening to the ground to get your hitch height. Then, measure from the bottom of the trailer coupler to the ground to get the trailer hitch height. The difference between these two numbers will be the amount of rise and drop you will need for your vehicle and trailer. I have linked help article that explains in more detail on how to measure for drop and rise as well as other information on ball mounts.
The Curt # C45100 that you referenced has a rise of 6-1/4 inches. This Curt ball mount will work as long as your measurements fall in line with this ball mount's stated rise.
I also recommend a a new ball # 63845 with a new ball mount.
