External Spare Tire Carrier for an Enclosed Cargo Trailer

Question:

I am looking to install spare tire carriers on my 7foot x 14foot enclosed cargo trailer. This cargo trailer is being built out to be a mobile pantry/kitchen for BBQ Competitions. I see there are several solutions to mount a spare tire carrier on the interior of the trailer, but have not seen many solutions for the external wall of the trailer. I would like to avoid having to mount the spare tire on the tong or front of the trailer, as i do not want excessive tongue weight. My questions is, is it safe to use the internal spare tire mount for the exterior of the trailer as long as it is mounted to the wall framing/studs? An help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Mounting a spare tire carrier, like # 413200 to the outside of an enclosed trailer can be done. You will just want to be absolutely sure the carrier and the tire are both secure. I would secure it by adding braces on the inside of the trailer going horizontal to the frame. Then fasten the carrier through the trailer's wall to these braces.

The tire attaches to the carrier using wheel bolts and lug nuts.
