Recommended Weight Distribution System for 2015 Silverado 1500 Towing 24-Foot Toy Hauler
Question:
2015 chevy silverado 1500 crew cab 4x4 z71. I tow a 24foot toy hauler. The truck sits level or maybe sags 1inch lower than the front. I would prefer it to have close to the same stance as when its not loaded. The other problem is when I go over bumps or a bridge it teeter totters rocking front to back. Will the Firestone Ride Rite air bags solve these problems? Or do you recommend another product?

If rear-end sag from trailer tongue weight (TW) is the issue then the best solution usually is a weight distribution system that shifts some of the trailer TW from the rear axle to the front axle. These systems can also include a sway-prevention function that will help the toy hauler remain in line with the Silverado even if hit by wind gusts and air blasts from passing trucks.
They key to choosing a WD/SC system is knowing the trailer's actual fully-loaded TW. We offer a handy scale # e99044 to make this easy but other methods for measuring TW are noted in the linked article. To the measured TW you'll need to add the weight of anything in the truck bed that sits behind the rear axle, such as a loaded tool box, since this too acts like trailer TW. With that total figure known you can choose a system.
Ideally your total TW figure will fall right near the middle of the system's operating range. For an example, we'll say your total loaded TW figure is 1000-lbs. Please refer to the linked page for WD/SC systems. Just click on your TW figure to see suitable options.
In this case you could use Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37120ET which works over a range of 800- to 1200-lbs TW. This system includes a shank and a 2-5/16-inch hitch ball. It's frame brackets are smaller than most, making them easier to position along the trailer frame. For hitch ball installation a thin-walled socket like # EQ70-00-4800 is recommended.
