Wiring The Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness on A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
Hi , what are the reasons Why you dont wire the 12volt black power wire from the c56208 harness to the 12volt plug in the cargo bay area? This plug is connected to the battery when the ignition is in the run condition and not always on...supposedly it is fused directly off the battery...Thanks for your expert advice...

Curt has designed the T-Connector Wiring Harness, # C56208, to work with the existing wiring of your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 12 volt battery connection is designed to work with the unit to maximize performance and limit the strain on your vehicle's electrical system.
The 12 volt accessory circuit on some vehicles may not have a dedicated circuit and can not take the electrical load of both the trailer wiring harness and the 12 volt accessory plug. The result of this could cause overheating the wires, blown fuses and short out the converter box of the trailer wiring harness. It is for this reason that manufacturers do not test this type of installation and recommend wiring straight to the battery. If the wiring harness is wired to anything other than the battery, there will be no warranty coverage from the wiring harness manufacturer and likely the vehicle manufacturer if something were to happen.
