Recommended Roof Rack and Cargo Box for 2007 Hyundai Sonata with a Sunroof

Our 2007 Sonata has a sun roof w/wind defector. Can a roof rack and cargo box be installed? If so, what ones.

Expert Reply:
You can still put a roof rack on your 2007 Hyundai Sonata even if you have a sunroof. You just won't want to open the roof at all when you have anything on the rack, and possibly not even with the crossbars installed. The rack itself is going to cause a decent amount of wind noise even if it doesn't have anything on it.
The roof rack for your Sonata that will have less wind noise than others is the Thule system made up of the following parts:
53 inch Thule WingBars # TH711420 (black) or # TH711400 (silver)
Thule Rapid Traverse Foot Pack # TH480R
Thule Fit Kit # THKIT1388
For a more economical option that uses square crossbars and will produce a lot more wind noise the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs # SR1002 is also a fit for your car.
The Yakima SkyBox NV 16 # Y95AV has been confirmed by Yakima to fit on your Sonata. The Skybox NX 16 measures 75-1/2 inches long, 35 inches wide, 16 inches tall, and has a maximum capacity up to 16 cubic feet. It will also work with both the Thule and SportRack roof racks.
