Recommended Weight Distribution Shank for ProSeries 12,000 lb System With 5 Inch Or More Drop

Question:

Hello... I purchased the Pro Series Weight Distribution - 49587 from etrailer for towing with my Sierra 1500 a couple years ago. The system worked great, but Ive now turned my Sierra 1500 in on its lease and I now rent 3/4 ton trucks when I need to tow my trailer. The 3/4 ton truck I rented last 2017 RAM 2500 4WD was much higher than my Sierra 1500 and I wasnt able to drop the hitch enough to level out the trailer. Can this product replace the trunnion in my current weight distribution set up? Im looking for about 5inch of that will fit the 2.5inch receivers that come stock on the 3/4 ton trucks. Thanks for your help!

I reached out to my contact at Cequent, a parent company for Pro Series and Reese, to see what they would recommend for your needed drop for the discontinued Pro Series Trunnion Style Weight Distribution Kit with Shank, 1,200 lbs, #49587. They suggested that your best option would be to get the Reese Weight Dist Shank - Drop Only - 11" Long - 7-5/8", 8-5/8" Drop - 1,400 lbs TW, # RP3344. This shank will allow you to utilize the weight distribution system with your trailer level even with a higher hitch receiver on your rented truck. I've attached a review video for you.

For your 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver, they said you will have to use a reducer because they don't make a 2-1/2 inch shaft. For that you would need a Curt Reducer Sleeve 2-1/2" to 2" # C45405.
