Recommended Rear Suspension Jounce Spring Kit for 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 SLT Crew Cab
Question:
I have a 2006 Dodge 1500 4x4 SLT crew cab with a 5.7 hemi. Has a good ride empty but is very rough pulling my 8,000 lb camper. I also have the sway bar kit that keeps the truck level. What do you recommend?

It sounds like you are towing a bumper-pull type travel trailer that is already fitted with a weight distribution/sway control set-up. Since you mention that your truck is level when the trailer is hitched I will presume that system is appropriately-rated and set-up correctly. The rated towing capacity range for your truck, based on my research, is 7400-8500-lbs. Your owner's manual should allow you to confirm your particular truck's towing capacity. Naturally you want to avoid pulling more weight than the truck is rated for.
If you find that your ride quality suffers when you're towing you might consider a set of jounce springs for the rear axle. Great features of these springs are that they are zero-maintenance products (unlike airbags). They work independently and also they do not alter your unloaded ride quality, which you are happy with, but when under load they provide progressive resistance to support and stabilize the rear suspension.
Timbren kit # TUR100 installs above the rear axle in place of the factory bump stops. They work to absorb bumps from rough roads and also to help support the truck's rear end. Installation instructions are linked.
