Measuring the Height Setting of the Hitch Ball on My Weight Distribution with Sway Control Hitch
Question:
How do I measure for the height setting of the ball on my Blue Ox sway control hitch

To measure where the height of your ball should be for towing, I would start by measuring the trailer tongue unhooked and on level ground from the ground to the bottom of the coupler, just like you would for a ball mount. Then on your vehicle, I would measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on your trailer hitch receiver. The difference in height will help you know how to adjust the head on the shank of your Blue Ox SwayPro weight distribution system to make the ball 1 to 2 inches higher than the trailer coupler height. This process is explained further in the SwayPro Installation Instructions, which I have linked to this page for you.
On your Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control,# BXW1000, the 2 inch shank has a maximum rise of 8 inches and a maximum drop of approximately 2 inches. This adjustability will allow you to customize the height of the head and ball to tow your trailer level.
