Recommended 7 Way Trailer Connection to Fit a 2009 Porsche Cayenne
Question:
I have a 2009 Porsche Cayenne which came with the factory installed trailer hitch but does not have the seven connector female plug-in. It has a block off plate secured by four screws. Apparently US customers are supposed to purchase the appropriate connector for the US and have it installed at the dealer though this one was not done by the original owner. My question is, do you have the connector or will I have to go to the dealer for it? Thanks,

For your 2009 Porsche Cayenne, I'd recommend using Techonsha's ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 119250KIT, to get your 4-way trailer connection. This system doesn't require any splicing into your factory wiring which is a really cool way to make sure you don't void a warranty. I would then recommend you get the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat, # ETBC7. This kit will give you all the circuit breakers, wiring, and hardware needed to add a brake controller. There are no plug in 7-way connectors for your vehicle that are aftermarket.
For a brake controller, I would recommend the Prodigy P3 which is a proportional controller, # 90195. This has a very clear and customizable LCD. This will give diagnostic help as well as troubleshooting. It also has power boost for heavy towing.
If you need a ball mount, I'd suggest the Weigh Safe 180 Hitch with Stainless Balls, # LTB4-2. This rustproof aluminum adjustable ball mount gives you many options with a rise of 5 inches or a drop of 4 inches. It is rated for 12,500 lbs gross towing weight.
