Recommended Friction Sway Control Bar for Weight Distribution System
Question:
We have a 31foot bumper pull trailer. I do not have a sway bar as of yet for my weight distributing hitch. But, looking at videoss, etc, I see some people getting 2 of them. Were right here in the St. Louis area, so our adventures are within a 300 mile circle, so really no mountain winds.

The Anti-Sway bars are a nice addition to weight distribution systems that do not have a built in sway control function. I'd recommend the Curt Friction Sway Control for Weight Distribution Systems, # 17200, which is an easy to use option that uses friction pads as resistance against a telescoping interior arm. This is an independent sway control system that works to resist sway once it has started. The tension is adjustable to meet your specific needs. If the shank of your weight distribution system doesn't account for this mounting, you may need to look for a replacement head that allows for this mount.
As you stated, many people choose to use two of these systems, one on each side. The use of two sway controller bars is not required, but is recommended on trailers that are over 26 feet long. I've included a help article and a video for you.
Another option for you is to upgrade your weight distribution system to one with integrated sway control like the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control # RP66084. This system proactively reduces sway and will allow you adjustments to fine tune for your load. This system would require a hitch ball like # A-90.
