Tire Chain Recommendation for 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser with Tire Size 285/60-18

the owners manual recommends the side chain to be 0.20 in. [5 mm] in diameter and cross chain 0.25 in. [6.3 mm] in diameter Will these chains be appropriate?

You need tire chains that offer the best wheel well and frame clearance like a Class S offers. For your tire size of 285/60-18 you would want the part # TC2327 which is a fit and offers the clearance you would need. These chains have a link thickness of 3.7 mm.
