Recommended Items Needed To Flat-Tow 2000 Honda CR-V

Question:

I have another question . Can I also use the Westin Safari Light Mounting Bar with the Roadmaster 1528-3 base plate kit

The Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 1528-3 is a great fit for your 2000 CR-V. This kit has removable arms when you are not towing.

For a tow bar I recommend the Falcon 2 Tow Bar, part # RM-520. This tow bar folds up against the back of your truck when you are not towing.

For lighting I recommend the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, part # RM-155. This kit includes the bulbs and does not require tapping into the vehicle wiring. The # 118336 harness is not designed for flat-towing your vehicle.

You will also need safety cables like part # RM-643.

Since supplemental brake systems are now required I recommend part # SM99251.

You want to tow your CR-V as level as possible so a high/low adapter may be needed. I have attached a link to our product page for the adapters you can choose from. I also attached a link to a helpful article that explains how to choose an adapter.

I have attached links to a couple helpful articles you can check out. You will want to check the owner's manual for any restrictions for flat-towing your CR-V.

The Safari Light Mounting Bar that is designed to fit your 2000 CR-V is part # 30-0005-1005. I have attached the installation instructions for the bar you can check out. I also attached a link to an installation video for the base plate kit, part # 1528-3 you can check out. You will need to see if the installation of the base plates kit will interfere with the light bar installation. Both manufacturers state they do not install other manufacturer's items, they would not say whether they are compatible. We have not had a chance to install these two items at the same time in our shop. I do recommend installing the base plate kit first and then determine if the mounting locations will interfere with the installation of the light bar. From the instructions it does look like they attach to the same location. If you decide you do not want to install the light bar you have the instructions for the base plates. If you decide you do not want to flat-tow you have the installation for the light bar.
