Can 225/75-15 Trailer Tire Replace a 205/75R15
Question:
I need to replace the tires on a BigTex 35SA-12 which has factory ST205/75R-15 tires running 50psi on 15? x 5 White Spoke, 5 on 5 Bolt Pattern wheels on a single Dexter 3,500# EZ Lube Axle. According to the manufactures web site the trailers weight is 983lbs. I currently haul an off-road vehicle with a dry wight of 1,495 lbs. The trailers GVWR is 2995. I am looking for a tire that doesnt bounce and sway as much. I am open to factory size but was wondering if it is possible to up-size to the ST215/75r-15 which can carry more weight? Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

Going to the next larger tire size of ST225/75R15 would certainly be possible unless your fender and frame clearances are super tight on your trailer currently. You would end up with roughly 3/4 of an inch less of fender clearance and the tire will be 20 mm wider.
My favorite tire in that size is the part # TR225LRE which has a 2,830-lb max load at 80 psi and has an 81 mph speed rating which is much higher than most trailer tires.
