Normal Clearance for Towing 96 in Wide Fifth Wheel Trailer with Sidewinder in 5-1/2 foot Bed Truck
Question:
New to RV 5th wheel camping. Dealer has installed 5th wheel hitch with a sidewinder. Ram 1500 5-7inch short bed. Trailer is 8inch wide 96. The distance from hitch king pin to cab of truck is 27, I did the math you provided and I have 1inch to spare. IS THIS NORMAL?

1 inch to spare is pretty darn tight but is somewhat normal for towing as wide of a trailer as what you have with a truck that has a 5-1/2 foot bed.
Basically you would be able to tow with your current setup but you need to be very careful around corners. Especially if there is an elevation change happening as well.
