I would recommend purchasing the brake controller installation kit # ETBC7, as it includes the 4 to 7-Way adapter and items needed to complete the brake controller installation on your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. You will need to connect the brake controller wiring as follows.
White: Ground, attached to the vehicle negative battery terminal.
Black: 12v lead, attached to the vehicle positive battery terminal with a 20amp or 30amp circuit breaker, included in the # ETBC7 kit.
Blue: Electric brakes, this wire runs from the front of the vehicle back to the 7-Way plug.
Red: Stoplight switch, this wire would have a power reading when the brake pedal is pressed but would have none when it is released. Use a light tester like part # PTW2993 to determine which wire is performing this function.
To install the 4 to 7-Way adapter included in the kit, you would first plug it into your existing 4-Way plug, and then connect the additional wires as follows.
White: Ground wire, connected to a suitable grounding point on the vehicle frame.
Blue: Electric brake wire, connected to the electric brake wire coming from the back side of the Prodigy brake controller.
Black: 12v power wire, connected to the vehicle positive battery terminal with the 40amp circuit breaker included with the # ETBC7 kit.
Purple: Used to power reverse lights on the trailer if present, or to power a reverse lockout function or other auxiliary power function. If not needed, this wire can be tied up.
I am including some links with some additional information on wiring for a brake controller, as well as a video that goes over the installation of the brake controller and the # ETBC7 kit on a 2008 FJ model.
