Recommended Bike Rack on 2017 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback

Question:

Any thoughts on putting a bike rack on the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback? Im trying to decide what new car to buy, and support for a bike rack is a big issue. Fyi, the Civic Hatch has a double spoiler, so it looks like a trunk rack wont work. Also, the Sport edition has dual center exhaust... so no trailer hitch on that model? That would seem to leave only a roof rack. I recall seeing one photo indicating the civic roof supports rails but they kill gas mileage and theyre a pain to load. Any insight would be appreciated

A roof rack is going to be your best option for a 2017 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback as long as you have a 4 door. Roof racks will cause drag which will always impact your gas mileage. And, like you said, getting something on a roof is more difficult than the trunk, but a hitch will not work with the center exhaust and a trunk rack is going to have issues with with the top spoiler.

The most aerodynamic roof rack to fit the Civic is the Thule WingBar Evo that consists of the load bars # TH711400, in silver, or # TH711420, in black, the Evo clamp feet # TH710501, and the Fit Kit # TH145043.

Then to carry the bikes on the roof rack you can add the ProRide XT # TH598004.

If there's any additional vehicles you're considering and want me to recommend bike rack options for them just let me know what you're looking at.
