To determine the capacity leaf springs you have on your 1996 Mobile Scout RFK-30 fifth-wheel trailer you should look on the frame of your trailer for a plate that will have the VIN number, there should also be a listing for the axle ratings too.
You can also tell the weight capacity of the axle by measuring the diameter of the axle. A 3,500-lb. axle will have a diameter of 2-3/8 inches and a 6,000-lb. to 7,200-lb. axle will have a diameter of 3 inches. I am sending a link to an FAQ page on trailer suspensions and it will list the axle diameters for different axle weight capacities.
Once you determine the capacity of your axles you can divide that number in half and you should have the weight capacity of one leaf spring.
In order to select the proper leaf spring for your application you will also need a few measurements from the current leaf springs that are on your trailer. The most important measurement you will need is the length, or distance from eye to eye of the leaf spring. Since leaf springs have a tendency to sag over time you will want to select a spring that is slightly shorter than the distance measured on your current leaf spring.
The next measurement you will need is the height from top-center of spring to center of eye. Finally you will need the length from center of eye to center of the leaf spring.
If you follow the see question and answer live link below you will be able to see a picture that shows the measurements for more clarification if needed.
