Roof Rack Recommendation for 2012 Chevy Sonic  

Question:

2012 Chevy Sonic. Looking to install tracks on my naked roof for a track mount roof rack. Do you have cross section pictures with dimensions of the various tracks Rola, Yakima, Thule, Rhino, etc.? Wanting to go with a track that can be mounted with nutserts, and that has compatibility with other brands feet. Planning on a complete rack and 2 JayLow kayak racks to start. Im local, so will be picking up when I get this all sorted out. Thanks!

The track mounted roof racks all use the same dimensions for the channels. They all use a 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch channel and we have found that the feet kits of the racks all fit in the same channels. That being said, the roof of your vehicle has a curve to it and mounting tracks to it would not be an ideal solution. Plus it will permanently modify the roof. The track setups really should only be used on flat surfaces like pop up campers and truck bed camper shells.

The best solution will be the Rhino Rack roof rack part numbers # RRVA118B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK399 which is a confirmed fit for your 2012 Chevrolet Sonic and does not require any permanent modifications.
