What is the Recommended Trailer Tire Pressure

Question:

So some of you guys say ALWAYS have my tires pumped up to 110 psi. My Goodyear guys tell me thats too much pressure for all the weight 12,500 dry on four tires he recommends 100 psi. Also 75 in the 4 duallies on the truck, and 70 in the front. MFG says 80 psi. I admit, since we have been full-timing for almost 10 years, that the jury still seems to be out on this. Would you like to expound on why you think 110 and the tire sellers more than one say 100? PS 2008 Jayco 35RLTS.

Without knowing exactly what tire you have the best recommendation I can make is that if the tire size starts with ST then you want to inflate the tires to their max pressure listed on the sidewall when cold. That's just the way trailer tires are designed. Failure to do this will diminish the tire's weight capacity and cause heat build up from the sidewall flexing more.

Now truck tire pressures are totally different. We do not carry truck tires so you would need to defer to the manufacturer of your truck tires on the recommended towing tire pressure. Vehicle tires don't typically recommend running the max pressure all the time. Since most are familiar with this the tire pressure rating for trailers will seem foreign too most since it goes against what most are familiar with.
