2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 Integrated Brake Control Not Working with Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes

Question:

Hello, my boat trailer has electric over hydraulic brakes. I just purchased a 2016 Chevrolet HD2500 Duramax that has an intergrated brake controller. I purchased a Tekonsha Priodigy P2 from you that I installed in my old truck which operated the system well. I read in one of your posts that prior to 2016, Chevrolets systems wouldnt run electric over hydraulic but that 2016 models will. I tried it today and the unit works only when the manual hand lever is operated and it will not work with the brake pedal. Has this come up with anyone else and Im missing something or do I need to add a controller like in my old truck? Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

A lot of it seems to depend on which electric over hydraulic actuator is on the trailer. Some of them may still require an adapter to work with factory integrated brake controllers like the one on your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500. You can also check to see if the integrated controller has an electric over hydraulic mode you need to be in.

If there isn't an EOH mode then you might be able to use an adapter depending on the model actuator you have on the trailer. If it is a Gen 6 Hydrastar then you can use adapter # HBA-CAM. Compatible actuators are:
Models HBA-10 with serial number 313800 or higher
Models HBA-12 with serial number 705700 or higher
Models HBA16 with serial number 506100 or higher
Models MHBA-10, MHBA-12, and MHBA-16
Models HBA-10V, HBA-12V, and HBA-16

For the Titan BrakeRite SD use # T4845900.

If you do not have an actuator that is compatible with an adapter then you can install the P2 # 90885. Under the dash of your truck, to the left of the brake pedal there is a junction box that will allow you to plug in a brake controller using wiring harness # 3016. If the factory controller is already plugged in you will have to unplug it. This will likely cause error lights to show up on the dash. A Chevy dealer can clear those codes.
