Tips for Removing Broken Key in Yakima Cargo Box and Roof Storage System for Cargo Box
Question:
Hi there Over the past year and a half we have lost a key to our skybox 16 and the other key broke off in the lock.. so we can not open the box. We have a pack of cores from our old rocket box that are unused in with our misc. yakima parts. What is the best way to get the old broken key out and than convert to the cores we have on other yakima equipment. Thank you in advance, Oh - Do you have a good idea for how to best store boxes ?.. some rack system or something

What you can use to grab the bit of broken key that is sticking out of the lock core is a set of nail clippers.
First I would recommend using a penetrating lubricant like WD-40 with the straw to direct the oil into the lock core, and then using the nail clippers grab what is sticking out of the core and turn it if needed and remove the lock.
With the lock number on the head of the key you can order a replacement key. You will need to enter the part number Y8772-XXXX in to our search box where the X's equal your key number.
For example, if your key is number A141 would want the replacement key part # Y8772-A141.
For storing cargo boxes there is the ceiling hoist made by Thule part # TH572 that would be your best solution.
