I suggest the Made in USA Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # DM8550035 along with the Custom Installation Kit # DM8552011-71 for your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. I recommend this for your situation because of its top quality and ease of use. This excellent set up will fit your 6 1/2 Foot short bed and offer the necessary turning clearance for sharp turns. You won't have to get in and out of the truck to adjust a manual slider with this automatic slider that makes cornering and maneuvering easy. I have attached a demonstration video with more details.
I have also attached an installation video for the 90-Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Plug # 41157, which I recommend if you do not have a one installed currently. Having a wiring connection point in the bed of your truck will be an additional convenience and will reduce the chance of damaging wiring that would otherwise be ran over your tailgate. You will retain the use of your 7-Way at the bumper for added versatility as well.
If you're interested in a brake controller with all the bells and whistles, I recommend the proportional Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller with Adapter # 90195 with wiring harness # 3050-P. It's the latest version of our popular and top rated Prodigy line of controllers. Please check out the additional brake controller information on the attached FAQ page.
