Question:

I own a 2005 kIA AMANTA and want to install a pull package to pull a 16ft Fleetwood camper Prowler style 1991. Do you have a package that will do this? Regards

While the tow capacity numbers appear to match up fairly close, the loaded weight of both your camper and vehicle need to be taken into consideration. After doing some research, I found that your Camper weighs in at a dry/empty weight of just under 2,000 lbs. Your KIA's tow capacity rating is in that same range. However, if you load any gear in your KIA's trunk along with any additional gear in your trailer, you will be above towing capacity. I would not recommend towing your Prowler Camper with your KIA because of this tow capacity issue. For your specific numbers, please verify the capacities in your owner's manual for both.

If you find that you are within capacity, then I recommend the following hitch receiver for your 2005 KIA Amanti. ( # C11450 the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class I - 1-1/4") This hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight towing capacity of up to 2,000 lbs. (Typical loads: bike racks, cargo carriers, and small trailers) Curt also requires the use of their Stabilizing strap # 18050 for all non trailer loads, such as a bike rack.

You will also want to pick up the Hopkins Tail Light Converter Kit with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM48925 for towing small trailers without electric brakes. I have attached an article about tongue weight and one that explains how to choose the correct ball mount for your specific application as well.
