If the trailer weighed less than 2,000 lbs then our trailer hitches like the Curt part # C11255 would have the capacity for a trailer. But you would need to check the owner's manual of the 1996 Nissan Maxima to determine it's towing capacity and be sure to stay under it.

For a ball mount you would want the part # 3593. For a 2 inch hitch ball part # 19258 or for 1-7/8 inch ball part # 19256. For trailer wiring you would want the part # 119178KIT.
