Recommended Hitch Mounted Platform Bike Rack Allowing Rear Access on 2015 Chrysler Town and Country
Question:
I have a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country van. I am thinking about the Class 3 2 hitch by Drawtite. The video says that it is about an inch shorter than the Curt model...do you think its enough clearance to open the rear hatch when using a Saris Freedom SuperClamp 2-Bike rack? I am not sure which hitch is being used in your demo video.

Using the Saris Freedom SuperClamp with the Draw-Tite Class III # 75579 on your 2015 Chrysler Town and Country might give you enough clearance to open the hatch, but it's going to be cutting it very close. The video of the SuperClamp on the Town and Country is with the Curt Class III # 13364 which, like you said, is longer.
Another option is to combine the Draw-Tite hitch receiver with the Yakima HoldUp 2 # Y02443. The HoldUp 2 is a tilting rack to give you more clearance. I attached the video of it on the van and it doesn't show the rear hatch being opened without the bike on it, but it's clear that if the rack is tilted down and not loaded, you will have plenty of clearance to open the hatch.
If you decide to go with the Curt hitch, you will also need the Curt Support Strap # 18050 which is required under Curt's warranty to be used for any non-trailer loads, such as a bike rack.
