First, you will need to gain access to the wiring behind each taillight. Next, ground the white wire to the sheet metal in the trunk near the left taillight. Then using the circuit tester that comes with the Upgraded Circuit Protected Taillight Converter Hardwire Kit, # 119178KIT, find the wire on the driver side that carries a signal in unison with the left turn signal. Attach this wire to the yellow wire on the harness.
Next, find the wire that carries a constant signal when the brake pedal is pressed. Attach this wire to the red wire on the harness. After that, find the wire that carries a constant signal when the vehicle running lights are on. Attach this wire to the brown wire on the harness.
You can then attach the converter to a clean metal surface. Next, route the green wire over the right taillight. Find the wire that carries a signal in unison with the right turn signal. Attach this wire to the green wire. This kit comes with quick splices to make the wiring connections.
The 4-Way will be stowed inside the trunk when not in use. When towing, the 4-Way can be pulled out and the rear hatch closed on top of the wiring (avoid the latching mechanism on the hatch). The weather stripping will prevent the wires from being damaged. I have included a link below to a video showing a typical installation of this harness.
