Trailer Sways Using Reese Dual-Cam Sway Control After Switching Trucks

Question:

The hitch was setup for 2011 ram 1500, I changed the ball height for the 2500. My question is with this product I have to take up the bar a lot to get the trailer to stop swaying. Even after doing the trailer still sways. What I am I doing wrong?

You may not have enough tongue weight on the ball which can lead to sway. Is the trailer towed level or did the ball height change cause it to ride nose high? If it is riding high then that would cause too little tongue weight. Using a different shank with more drop will solve the height problem.

Another thing is that the dual-cam sway control does require a bit of fine tuning. Try making some adjustments to the dual-cam sway control units until you get it set where you want it.

I have included a link to the 2 inch Reese shanks and a link to the dual-cam instructions for reference.
