Recommended Roof Rack and Carrier for 2 Kayaks Transported on 2007 Honda Fit
Question:
I am thinking about purchasing the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs - Square Crossbars - Steel - 50inch Long for my 07 Honda Fit. I have two questions: 1What would be the recommended attachment for carrying two kayaks with the SportRack. 2 Is there a rack that you guys have in stock that can be used on both naked roofs and roofs with a rail system. I only ask becuase when my Honda Fit dies I will be switching to an Outback most likely and would like to be able to use the rack - or at least part of it - on my next vehicle. Regards.

To carry two kayaks on your 2007 Honda Fit you will really want to choose a custom-fit rack that is designed expressly for your Fit, rather than a semi-custom rack like the SportRack # SR1002 that fits many different vehicles. To transport the weight of two kayaks (easily 80- to 100-lbs total) you need a rack that mounts to the car very securely so a custom-fit option is the way to go. It is also a good idea to check the Fit owner's manual for its roof's weight carrying capacity.
The most cost-effective quality rack system I can recommend is the Rhino-Rack system made of parts # RRVA118B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK010. On this rack you can use the 2-kayak Stacker # TH830 from Thule. This carrier secures the kayaks on their sides as shown in the linked video. Heavy duty straps with padded cam buckles are included.
In order to check on compatibility of this roof rack on your next vehicle I would need to know the specific year, make, model and version.
