We have 2013 VW TAUREG TDI with 19inch rims and little clearance. What do you recommend for snow cables/chains?

To choose the best snow chains for your 2013 Volkswagen Touareg we will want to consider the tire size in addition to the rim size. For the 2013 Touareg, there are 2 popular tire size that fit 19 inch rims, 265/50-16 size tires and 265/55-19 size tires. These sizes are different enough that the same tire chains will not fit both sizes.
If your Tourage has size 265/55-19 tires, I recommend the Thule Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH02230K77 because they are high quality, don't require much clearance, and easy to install. The chains are made up of dual-side D-shaped links to increase traction and the icebreaker reinforcements help bust apart ice. Thule's Premium Chains automatically tighten and align to provide a simple installation. These chains install in the tire's tread and do not reach around the back of the tire, so they do not require any clearance on the back side of the tire. I've attached a review video of this style chain in a smaller size for you to see how the chain installs.
If your 19 inch wheels have 265/50-19 size tires, I recommend the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains # PW2029C because they are Class S compatible, so they will need minimal clearance. These chains will install all the way around your tireto offer more traction than traditional ladder-style chains. Rubber adjusters # PW103 are recommended to provide needed tension for the chains.
There is not a Thule Premium Self-Tensioning chain to fit the 265/50-19 size tire.
Before choosing to use tire chains on your 2013 Volkswagen Touareg, I highly suggest checking your owner's manual for any recommendations from VW regarding tire chains. The only information I was able to find is that the tires should be installed on the front wheels only. Your owner's manual will provide you with more specific information regarding the use and installation of chains for your vehicle.
